Dior + Paris = <3 <3
Exhibitions what a bore, the word perhaps brings you back to a memory of your parents dragging you into a dusty museum. Though the magic Christian Dior creates through his art was worth taking a look at.
In conclusion last year we ended up in a magnificent exhibition in the heart of Paris. Though we knew as you do how incredible this designer is we were purely amazed as we walked into rooms filled with his most beautiful creations.
An entire room was dedicated to Christian Dior's white collection. The immensity of this room filled with only the colour white created an angelic atmosphere almost as if you were now floating in the sky. The color white has today so many pejorative connotations, poised, well behaved, childish, to name a few. This leads people to lean towards black to create more character in their outfits. Though looking around that room you too would have changed your mind on white.
Here is a close up on one of Dior's white dresses. The precise details in the bodice and the fluidity present in the second half of the dress illustrates this world known designers extraordinary talent. Dior worked during the 1900s and helped change how fashion was viewed in the eyes of many. Through his designs he helped free women in fashion as they battled for their rights. The brand is still today is a great source of influence as it was then.
Dior prioritised class and elegance in his designs. His dresses are made to shape a female body through the beauty of simplicity. His dresses give confidence to women who wear them. The materials he uses give a magical fluidity to his dresses.
The details Dior installes in his creations are always so perfectly placed. They did not overcharge the dress they simply add to its beauty. Dior is a designer that has inspired many and through this exhibition inspired me. I will now take his advice and make elegance an attitude and I suggest you do the same.
